Single-component HYDRO-PU acrylate lacquer, abrasion-resistant, tough, high-build and light fast. Multicoat lacquer with good accentuation of woods and high resistance, particularly to mechanical stresses. Multi-coat lacquer for base and top coats for open-pore and closed-pore coatings. The product can be used on bleached wood. Free from N-methylpyrrolidone and phthalate plasticisers, therefore also suitable for coating children's toys.

Surface preparation Clean, dry wood, free of oil, grease, wax and silicones. Sanded as prescribed and free from sanding dust. With parquet renovation: Parquet flooring that is properly laid and sanded, already (pre-) sealed or primed with a suitable primer for reducing lateral bonding.

Comments on sanding The quality and uniformity of the wood and of the lacquer sanding are crucial to the final surface finish. After sanding, remove dust as prescribed.

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.

Processing instructions To help increase the mechanical and chemical resistance of the surface: hardening additive ratio 10 : 1 with HYDRO Hardener HDR 5070. Add hardener slowly whilst stirring and adjust the spray viscosity with water, if required. The hardening agent must always be added before thinning with water! Never store product mixed with hardening agent in closed containers. The mixture must be used within 2 h / 20 °C room temperature. Use without hardener on bleached surfaces! Recoatability: with itself following proper sanding. Lacquer application for renovation of parquet flooring: with a suitable lint free roller, for example short mohair. Before first use, remove loose hairs on the roller with tape! Clean tools with water. For removal of dried lacquer residues use Hesse HYDRO Cleaning agent HV 6917. In case of combined coatings (HYDRO- and solvent based lacquers) rinse application tools with Hesse HYDRO Reversing agent HV 6904.
Particular instructions Please note, when used for the renovation of parquet flooring: remove any contaminants or care product residue carefully. Test existing sealing surfaces for sufficient bond to the substrate and sand down. Lacquers in the range HE 6541x(gloss level) cannot be used to coat new, untreated parquet flooring due to the risk of lateral bonding. Please use products from our special parquet range for this. To avoid the possibility of staining, please only renovate parquet flooring, which was previously treated with solvent-based systems, with solvent-based systems again. A practical initial assessment as to whether the existing surface can be coated with lacquers in the HE 6541x(gloss level) range is absolutely required! (surface quality, bonding, etc.).
General instructions on workmanship When working with HYDRO materials, parts that come into contact with the material must be made from stainless steel. The moisture content should be between 8 - 12 %. Do not apply or dry HYDRO lacquers at material or room temperatures below 18 °C. The ideal humidity for application lies between 55 and 65 %. During the lacquering process, a humidity level that is too low leads to surface defects (such as shrink cracks, etc.). Excessive humidity during the drying phase may drastically lengthen the drying time! In order to avoid adhesion problems, please sand the lacquered surfaces freshly before coating and apply lacquer to the sanded surfaces as soon as possible. When applied to foils, etc., please use a sample coating on the respective substrate to check the adhesion! The ideal complete hardening of lacquered surfaces that have been flashed off is reached at temperatures over 20 °C up to no more than 40 °C. Adequate, draft-free air exchange must be assured. The complete hardening of the lacquer will be reached after one week of proper storage (at least 20 °C room temperature). Woods containing large amounts of natural oils, such as teak, can negatively influence adhesion under certain circumstances. Water-soluble wood ingredients such those in ash and tannins in woods such as oak may cause colour changes and discolourations in the coating. We recommend that you always conduct a sample lacquering to evaluate the colour effect, adhesion and drying process under real conditions! Cleaning and care instructions: Please observe the care instructions according to DIN 18356. Wipe parquet with a slightly damp but not wet cloth. Please use only neutral, silicone-free, ammonia free and non-abrasive cleaners. Regular care and cleaning with Hesse PROTECT-CLEANER PR 90 and Hesse INTENSIVE-CLEANER PR 91 increases the durability of a (parquet) surface.

Stairs, natural maple, semi matt. Wood sanding: grit 150 - 180 with subsequent dust removal. Coating: 3 x 100 - 120 g/m² Hesse HYDRO Stair lacquer HE 65416. Drying time between coats at least 3 h / 20 °C room temperature and with adequate ventilation. Intermediate sanding 280 grit with subsequent dust removal. Packable: after at least 24 h / 20 °C room temperature and with adequate ventilation.
