Hesse WETPROTECT-OIL OE 52068

  • optimised protection against moisture penetration
  • first impregnation layer, even for use in kitchens, bathrooms and other moist environments
WETPROTECT-OIL is a mixture of natural oils and natural oils modified with alkyd resins. This thin-bodied oil has excellent penetration properties and produces superb grain accentuation. It impregnates the wood fibres particularly well and thus better protects the substrate against the effects of moisture. It is therefore particularly suitable as an additional, first impregnation layer in combination with other high quality oils, especially when used in kitchens, bathrooms and other moist environments. This product is not classified according to the CLP Regulation and is only formulated with cobalt- and lead-free siccatives and carefully selected mild smelling solvents. It does not contain fungicides or herbicides.

Fields of application

Anywhere indoors where good moisture resistance on an oiled surface is desired, such as in kitchens, bathrooms and other moist environments. Surface treatment of wood in interior areas, e.g. parquet and surface coating, living room and bedroom furniture, children's furniture, wall and ceiling panelling. Additionally suitable for heavy-duty use on parquet and wooden floors in residential and commercial areas. Also for stairs, handrails, oriented strand boards and cork floors. Finishing

A second application of WETPROTECT-OIL increases the wood’s moisture resistance.
Depending on the expected demands, other suitable oils can be applied once the WETPROTECT-OIL has dried, for instance using:
1 - 2 x NATURAL-OIL OE 52832, FLOORCARE-OIL OE 52162, SPEEDCARE-OIL OE 52872 or NATURAL-SOLID-OIL GE 11254.
Intermediate drying: 8 - 16 h / 20 °C room temperature
Please refer to the current Technical information for details relating to the respective oil.

Yield per coat 18 - 59 m²/l

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.
Working Temperature Range 20 - 40 °C
Storage temperature 10 - 35 °C
conditions of transport frost-free - up to a maximum of 35 °C
Processing instructions It is preferable to apply 1 generous coat of WETPROTECT-OIL on the expertly prepared surface. Allow an absorption period of 5 - 10 min / 20 °C room temperature and then rub the oil in well using a fine pad or the like. Subsequently remove any excess using something like a lint-free cotton cloth until the surface appears evenly dry. The next layer of suitable oil can be applied after a drying time of around 6 h, preferably 16 h / 20 °C room temperature.
Even 2 coats of WETPROTECT-OIL can be applied if required. This increases the wood’s water resistance.

Particular instructions Please note the latest version of the Safety Data Sheet! The material dries with oxidation – please observe the general application instructions. A skin can form on open containers due to the spontaneous reaction of the product with atmospheric oxygen! Please check before application! This skin cannot be incorporated, but must be carefully removed and disposed of before application. We recommend that you also sieve the material before applying it.
“A risk assessment was undertaken according to Directive 2014/90/EU, Annex II, Section 3. This coating does not pose a physical risk to health nor a risk to the environment when cured and dried.”
Ensure that the temperature is high enough (20 °C) and that there is sufficient air circulation when applying! Large areas should be coated by two people. Rapid rolling prevents deposits; apply in the direction of the wood. Skin may form due to the high reactivity. Please remove before agitating. Subsequently the material should be filtered as a precaution. Stir carefully before use. Please observe the latest material safety data sheet! The product is not suitable for woods susceptible to blue stain in damp rooms. The material properties were tested on commercially available wood such as oak, beech, etc. Please check suitability before using on other types of wood. Please apply a test coat under real conditions!
General instructions on workmanship Materials with oxidative drying: a skin can form on the surface in containers, mainly opened containers. This should be removed prior to use. Low temperatures, increased ambient humidity, inadequate air exchange and wood contents that inhibit drying can extend the oil’s drying time.
The risk of spontaneous combustion means that coating substances generating heat during drying (oxidative drying oils) and coating substances forming highly flammable deposits may not be applied in the same spray booth without further precautions (see BGR 500, section 3: Handling different coating substances). Cotton cloths, cardboard and paper saturated with oil pose a risk of spontaneous combustion due to heat accumulation. They should therefore be spread out in the air to dry before being disposed of. Even oil-saturated wood dust is prone to spontaneous combustion; as a precaution please do not dispose of it in sealed containers and, where possible, do not use the spray booth for sanding. The oil itself does not combust spontaneously.
The necessary cleaning, care and refresh intervals should be matched to the number of layers of oil applied and the nature and intensity of use. The material properties have been tested on commonly available woods, such as oak, beech, etc. Resins in softwoods, coloured woods and exotic or unusual wood species can result in delayed drying and optical impairments. Please therefore check for suitability prior to use on such woods. Please also note that oils, like almost all natural materials, change colour over time under the influence of light and heat. Their colour can alter both under the influence of light (e.g. the sun’s UV rays, etc.) and due to light deprivation (yellowing at absence of light, e.g. beneath tablecloths, carpets, cabinets, etc.). This can become particularly apparent on brightly pigmented substrates. Oiled surfaces have a distinctive odour. This diminishes in a matter of days with progressive drying.
