Adhesion problems
Description of the defect
The layer of lacquer does not exhibit the required adhesion with the substrate (cross cut test).
Cause of the defect
- defective substrate pre-treatment (fat not removed, not sanded).
- unsuitable substrate (contains paraffin or release agent).
- unsuitable coating system.
- incorrect drying of the coating system.
- base coat insufficiently sanded
- sanded base coat left for too long .
Defect solution
The poorly bonding layer of lacquer needs to be removed completely. Then the surface is pre-treated with a suitable coating in accordance with instructions.
