Description of the defect

Bubbles and trapped air in the lacquer film.

Cause of the defect

  • drying too quickly due to too high temperature or wind speed.
  • coating too viscous.
  • coat too thick.
  • trapped air in the substrate.
  • formulation not optimised.
  • unsuitable coating material .

Defect solution

The defective surface needs to be sanded clean with fine sanding paper (280 to 320 grain) until you have a smooth, level surface. Then one or two thin coats of suitable lacquer are applied in line with the treatment parameters.
