Fields of application

For all interior fixtures and fittings on suitable Hesse PU basecoats, including in kitchens and bathrooms as well as on shop counters as final coat for particularly wear-resistant surfaces.

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.

Particular instructions PU Diamond finish has been tested according to the standard test procedure of the American Society for Testing and Materials ASTM D7027-20 to determine its scratch resistance. The tested sample of DU 590 did not show any scratches at a load of 400 g. The tested sample of DU 594 did not show any scratches at a load of 500 g. DU 59x(gloss level) was additionally tested according to the standard test method ASTM D2794-93 to determine the effects of rapid deformation by impact. Detailed results can be found in the test report.

Because of the slightly abrasive surface structure, the product is of only limited suitability for the top coating of coloured surfaces. Absolute ring-resistance cannot be achieved with PU Diamond finish. Its slightly milky intrinsic colour means that it is not recommended for use on dark woods, stains or colour lacquers. Depending on the desired surface and base material, pre-priming can be performed using Basecoats like DG 572-1, DG 534 and DG 417.
General instructions on workmanship PU lacquers should not be applied and dried at material and room-temperatures below 18 °C and 40 % RH. Ideal values are: 20 - 25 °C, 50 - 65 % RH. Deviations will result in drying or hardening errors. In order to avoid adhesion problems, please sand the PU lacquered surfaces before applying fresh lacquer and apply lacquer to the sanded surfaces as soon as possible. Old lacquer and hardener mixtures affect the surface quality (adhesion/resistance). Freshly bleached substrates must undergo intermediate drying for at least 48 h at 20 °C before coating with suitable PU lacquers. If stored correctly (at least 20 °C room temperature), the final hardness of the coating is achieved after a week.
