Information on use

Usage time 2 - 3 h / 20 °C
Pot life 5 h / 20 °C
Drying 24 h / 20 °C
Stackable after > 72 h / 20 °C
Complete drying 7 d / 20 °C
Surface preparation Prior to application, the surface must be sanded, clean and free of grease.
Substrate sanding grits from-to 400 - 800
Lacquer sanding (grit) from - to 600 - 800
Finishing After sufficient drying time and intermediate sanding, another coat of the same. See details in the general technical information “Polishing and Buffing.”
Comments on sanding To prevent problems of bonding between the coating layers, the surface of clear lacquer that has already been applied and sanded back must be coated with the desired subsequent coating material within one working day (8 h at 20 °C). Repeated slight sanding will be required if this time is exceeded!
Yield per coat 7 - 10 m²/l

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.
Storage temperature 16 - 40 °C
Working temperature 20 °C
Processing instructions DU 46269-0005 can even be polished after just 24 h / 20 °C and air humidity of 40 – 45 %. These details may change with highly deviating climatic conditions and should be reviewed individually as necessary. Users themselves should adjust the application viscosity. We recommend adding 20 - 30 % Thinner DV 4935 to the lacquer/hardener mixture.
Particular instructions Use on bleached surfaces is possible when used in combination with suitable Hesse PU basecoats, such as: DG 4716-0001, DG 4716-0002, DG 4717-0005
When used as a flame-retardant coating for seagoing vessels, this product must only be combined with other approved and technically matching products. When being used as a flame-retardant coating agent for seagoing vessels, the maximum total application amount is 120 g/m². “A risk assessment was undertaken according to Directive 2014/90/EU, Annex II, Section 3. This coating does not pose a physical risk to health nor a risk to the environment when cured and dried.”
General instructions on workmanship PU lacquers should not be applied and dried at material and room-temperatures below 18 °C and 40 % RH. Ideal values are: 20 - 25 °C, 50 - 65 % RH. Deviations will result in drying or hardening errors. In order to avoid adhesion problems, please sand the PU lacquered surfaces before applying fresh lacquer and apply lacquer to the sanded surfaces as soon as possible. Old lacquer and hardener mixtures affect the surface quality (adhesion/resistance). Freshly bleached substrates must undergo intermediate drying for at least 48 h at 20 °C before coating with suitable PU lacquers. If stored correctly (at least 20 °C room temperature), the final hardness of the coating is achieved after a week.
Please apply a test coat under real conditions!

The coating process and the precise treatment parameters are adapted in each case to the respective application and drying conditions and can be found in the customer-specific process descriptions (surface techniques).
