Our Hesse polyurethane multicoat lacquer DE 42590-0022 "extra matt" is a transparent, two-component, polyurethane and acrylate resin lacquer. The product is light fast and is also formulated with light protection. DE 42590-0022 is ideally suited for coating onto Hesse polyurethane colour lacquer and produces an elegant matt appearance combined with the requisite metal marking resistance. It can be used on bleached woods. This product is also suitable for surfaces requiring the highest resistance to chemical and mechanical demands.

Fields of application

DE 42590-0022 can be used in restaurants, kitchens and bathrooms. The product can be coated both onto a wood substrate (e.g. wenge) and onto glass. DE 42590-0022 can in parallel be used in different hardening versions depending on use.

Processing instructions

Hardening the lacquer / hardener mixture (by volume) at 5 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4070 / DR 470 or 10 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4071 / DR 471 is advisable for coating critical substrates or to optimise chemical and mechanical resistance.

Hardening the lacquer / hardener mixture (by volume) at 5 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 4076-0001 after prior mixing of 5 % glass lacquer additive EL 460-0025 to the lacquer components also enables direct lacquering on glass. The glass surface to be lacquered should be cleaned properly beforehand using Hesse Glass cleaner ZD 101.

Particular instructions Do not use the extra matt formulation of DE 42590-0022 as a multicoat lacquer, but only as a 1-coat finish! It is possible to use Hesse polyurethane colour lacquer DB 45245-(colour tone) / DB 555-(colour tone) to tint Hesse polyurethane "extra matt" multicoat lacquer. Pre-priming is possible depending on surface requirements and substrate, for instance using series DE 4259x(gloss level) / DE 55x(gloss level) or Hesse Base coats DG 4741 / DE 534, DG 4734 / DG 434, DG 4717-0005 / DG 417 or DG 4750.
General instructions on workmanship PU lacquers should not be applied and dried at material and room-temperatures below 18 °C and 40 % RH. Ideal values are: 20 - 25 °C, 50 - 65 % RH. Deviations will result in drying or hardening errors. In order to avoid adhesion problems, please sand the PU lacquered surfaces before applying fresh lacquer and apply lacquer to the sanded surfaces as soon as possible. Old lacquer and hardener mixtures affect the surface quality (adhesion/resistance). Freshly bleached substrates must undergo intermediate drying for at least 48 h at 20 °C before coating with suitable PU lacquers. If stored correctly (at least 20 °C room temperature), the final hardness of the coating is achieved after a week.
Please apply a test coat under real conditions!
