DB 449-(colour tone) is a coloured high gloss lacquer with impressive lacquer distribution. This product has good body and dries to be very brilliant and high gloss, combined with optimal sanding and polishing properties. Our coloured high gloss lacquer is available in virtually all colour tones.

Fields of application

DB 449-(colour tone) can be used for shopfitting and on all interior fixtures and fittings, including in kitchens and bathrooms as well as for coatings in ship interiors.

Surface preparation

Cleaning by sanding on foil or melamine

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.

Particular instructions Please also see the additional special technical information on "Polishing and Buffing". Pre-priming is possible depending on the desired surface-finish and substrate, for example with Hesse PU Isolation primer DP 491-9343 or Hesse PU Isolation primer DP 491-9005. An intermediate coating with Hesse UNA-COLOR DB 555-(colour tone) in the same colour tone as the selected Hesse PU Brilliant colour DB 449-(colour tone), applied between filler and high-gloss, has a positive influence on the condition of the high gloss coating!

General instructions on workmanship PU lacquers should not be applied or dried at material and room temperatures of less than 18 °C and 40 % RH, ideal values: 20 - 25 °C, 50 - 65 % RH. Deviations will result in drying or curing faults. To avoid adhesion problems, please sand PU lacquered surfaces before applying fresh lacquer and apply lacquer to these sanded surfaces as soon as possible. Old lacquer/hardener mixtures will affect the surface quality (adhesion/resistance). If stored correctly (at least 20 °C room temperature), complete hardening of the coating is achieved after a week. Please apply a test coat under real conditions!

Base coat: 1 x 150 - 200 g/m² Hesse PU Isolation primer DP 491-9005, mixing ratio (by volume) 4 : 1 with PU Hardener DR 405, thinner: 5 - 10 % DV 490

Lacquer-sanding: in stages through 320 - 600 grit (dust removal)
Top coat: 2 x 80 - 120 g/m² Hesse PU Brilliant Colour DB 449-9005 with short intermediate drying (20 - 30 min / 20 °C room temperature).
