Hesse PU metallic lacquers in the DU 457-990xx range are light fast, two component PU acrylate resin finishing lacquers for light and dark colour tones pretreated with the DB 555-(colour tone) or DB 525-(colour tone) coloured lacquer range. These products can be used to create striking effects with a high brilliancy. PU Metallic finish DU 457-99015 is especially suitable for achieving an outstanding depth effect on a black substrate. Light colour tones take on a lustrous sheen with the specially configured “mother of pearl effect” DU 457-99060.

Surface preparation Prior to application, the surface must be sanded, clean and free of grease.

Finishing Combine with suitable, light fast PU multicoat, finishing and brilliant lacquers to achieve the desired effect (e.g. DE 55x(gloss level), DE 56x(gloss level), DU 45229).

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.

Processing instructions Single-coat application at 80 - 100 g/m2 is possible on surfaces prepared with coloured lacquer. In the mixing ratio 5 : 1 (by volume) with DR 4076-0001, after prior mixing in of 5 % glass lacquer additive EL 460-0025 as a lacquer component, it can also be used for direct coating on glass. The glass surface must be carefully cleaned and this should be performed with Hesse glass cleaner ZD 101. If a coloured finish is subsequently to be applied, please also harden DB 555 colour tone or DB 525-(colour tone) with DR 4076-0001 at a mixing ratio of 5 : 1 (by volume).
Particular instructions Metallic lacquers must be applied evenly. The application quantity, application methods and drying conditions all significantly influence colour tone and effect. Pre-priming is possible depending on the desired finish and substrate, for example with DB 555-(colour tone) or DB 525-(colour tone). The reflection and multicoloured effects can only be achieved on a black substrate.
General instructions on workmanship PU lacquers should not be applied and dried at material and room-temperatures below 18 °C and 40 % RH. Ideal values are: 20 - 25 °C, 50 - 65 % RH. Deviations will result in drying or hardening errors. In order to avoid adhesion problems, please sand the PU lacquered surfaces before applying fresh lacquer and apply lacquer to the sanded surfaces as soon as possible. Old lacquer and hardener mixtures affect the surface quality (adhesion/resistance). Freshly bleached substrates must undergo intermediate drying for at least 48 h at 20 °C before coating with suitable PU lacquers. If stored correctly (at least 20 °C room temperature), the final hardness of the coating is achieved after a week.
Please apply a test coat under real conditions!
