Finishing |
Subsequent coating with light-stable lacquers from the Hesse PU range, colour stains in natural shades also with suitable 1C and 2C HYDRO coatings. Complete drying must be guaranteed prior to recoating. Drying is delayed by low temperatures, reduced exchange of air, high humidity and large application amounts.
|
Comments on sanding |
A graduated raw wood sanding is recommended. The quality of the sanding is decisive for the quality of the final result. The bare wood can optionally be dampened. After drying overnight, sand or smooth.

The spreading rate is heavily dependent on the type of application. The specifications relate to a liter of ready-for-use product, if necessary including hardener and thinner.

Processing instructions |
Apply stain with light excess. Evenly spread the excess first across then with the grit using a suitable brush. The stain should only appear slightly damp as opposed to wet after wiping. Uneven wiping leads to differences in colour tone. Strong opaque effects can be achieved by misting again. Stir stains well before and during processing. The stains can be thinned with water, if required. We recommend small spray nozzle sizes for stains that are to be sprayed but not subsequently wiped. Although large spray nozzle sizes are recommended when spraying stains that are subsequently to be wiped.
|
Particular instructions |
Hesse stains are matched to each type of wood in terms of colour tone and application. Additional types of application and woods are available. All stains from the same range can be mixed together. Lighten by adding water. Can be tinted with colour concentrates in the range: BP 30xx, BP 3570. Priming with HYDRO lacquers can result in discolorations when using wood species with a high proportion of water-soluble wood constituents (e.g.oak). We therefore recommend a PU base coat, especially in the case of pastel or white colour tones.
|
General instructions on workmanship |
Trial staining of the original sanded wood with original lacquering should be carried out under real conditions. Only use stains from one batch for any one job. Do not pour soiled stains back into the original container. Clean tools with water immediately after use. Dried-on stain residue can be removed with thinners such as ZD 82. Stir stains well before and during processing.
